I recently added a link into the supplement about AOL giving free email to AIM users. I saw Slashdot cover the same story and one comment gave information about how to access it. Naturally I had to try it out for myself. Now, as far as I’m concerned, Gmail has the ultimate interface (I still have plenty of invites if you want one). Tiger users can user Jabber usernames with iChat AV 3.0. What’s the point of that? Well, AOL can’t listen in on you for one. Second, it’s decentralized. Should AOL go belly up, we’d all be fairly screwed. With Jabber, a single service provider can go down or disappear and everyone else can keep jabbering. Jabber also allows for chat gateways. For example, you can talk to MSN users through it. Melvin Rivera has written an excellent tutorial to get this set up. ...
Time for me to brag a little. During my softball game on Tuesday night, I got on base every time I came to bat. I’m not talking about just one or two at-bats. I was up four times. One was a triple with two or three RBIs. Of course, my fielding is still weak-ass, but I’ll sweep that under the rug.

I wasn’t expecting to go to even a single game this year and now I’ve gone to two. I saw the first game of the double header against the Seattle Mariners today with my father. When I took a screenshot of Safari’s contextual menu last night, I expected that it would be output as a PDF (the default format in Panther). I also wanted to take the opportunity to try out the Flickr upload widget that I mentioned before (which is terribly slick). I wasn’t sure that Flickr supported PDF, so I thought I’d have to convert the screenshot file. Much to my surprise, it was formatted as a PNG file. With that, I just went ahead and uploaded it (and it seems to have worked perfectly).
