I don’t think I’m the only one using a Mac that has become really accustomed to using context menus. Until I started using gestures to operate my web browser, I would regularly use the context menu to move back (because clicking the back button is really inconvenient). Safari continually jerked me around by being the only browser that didn’t have back and forward options. It’s one of the most common functions. This finally changed in Tiger and Safari 2.0. ...

I promised a feature review last night and between a not so great commute, reinstalling software, and upgrading the Pismo, I never got around to playing with Spotlight, nevermind take screenshots or write it up. In fact, I barely had time to catch House. I’d promise to get around to it tonight, but I have a softball game, some email regarding getting my own place to reply to, and a W-9 to fill out.

I’ve got Mac OS X Tiger installed on the 12″ Powerbook and the MDD G4 Powermac. Let me tell you, it’s awesome. It’s fast and even more multitasking capable (if that’s even really possible). I have a few quick thoughts this morning. I’ll have a much more complete analysis of Spotlight tonight. Spotlight may be more like LaunchBar than I originally thought. It served as a decent replacement until I got LaunchBar installed. However, it isn’t quite the same because it groups by kind and it doesn’t indicate location. That’s bad because when I do a search for a certain application, Spotlight is currently bringing up duplicates that exist on my Panther backup. ...

Okay, so the title for this entry would have been much cooler if Tiger were arriving tomorrow. Tiger Tuesday! I could have had fame and fortune. Instead, I’ll have Tiger one day earlier and be a nobody. Anyway, posting won’t be on the agenda tonight. I hope to cover one Tiger feature a day. After 4+ years of using the same awful phone, I’ve finally moved into the 21st century. I no longer have the classic Saved by the Bell cell phone, pictured below. Everyone in my family got their phone upgraded to the LG VX3200. It’s pretty basic (no camera or bluetooth), but it’s a lot lighter and smaller than the old phone. I was riding on cloud 9 last night. Today was supposed to be a great day. My day was supposed to be wake up at 9, see some houses at 11, then come home and relax before Tiger arrived late afternoon or in the evening. During a round of service adding last night, I figured out a way to differentiate between no results and an error. That’s good because now users will know when they’ll have to visit the source itself to see the results. The worst error offender by far is Technorati. Probably the majority of the tags will come up with an error message. You can then run their feed through the feed validator and witness for yourself the problem. ...

The transition from iPowerweb to Dreamhost is complete. I got an email from iPowerweb telling me that they were happy to renew my subscription to their service for another year. Well, considering I’d already migrated the site I thought that might be a little silly. I had to call them and let them know that they were fired. As I sat there on the phone listening to muzak, I went over how this conversation would go in my head. I figured that they might ask why and I thought that I’d just mention all my issues from last summer. I’m not an unreasonable person, but after having to explain to their brain dead staff half a dozen times that my problem was not an inherent problem in WordPress or any of the plugins I was using with it. If their attitude was going to be that the problem was that I didn’t use their provided software, I knew I’d be having a problem. ...
