Claiming that its image and persona have been hijacked as part of a marketing campaign for Burger King’s new chicken fries, the costumed heavy metal band Slipknot is threatening the fast food giant with legal action.

I actually wondered for a brief moment if it was Slipknot, but it’s so blatantly not.

Sad Day in the News

It didn’t pay to roll out of bed early this morning to catch the news. Even with the Christmas (and other holidays) closing in quickly, we have to deal with the harsh reality that is, well, everything outside of the holiday advertising that we get inundated with every year.

Former Pantera Band Member Death

At a show in Columbus, Ohio last night, Damage Plan’s Dimebag Darrell, formerly of Pantera, was shot and killed. A deranged gumnan rushed the stage and accused Darrell of breaking up Pantera before pulling out a gun and killing four others before being shot and killed by a police officer.

Apple Update Frenzy and Verizon Can Lick My Nuts

Apple has not only released an OS update for Panther and a security update for Jaguar, but they’ve also included several other key updates:

iPhoto 2.0.1

Java 1.4.2 Update 1

iSync 1.5

I don’t feel like linking them up, so hit Software Update or your favorite software update site (like Versiontracker).

iSync 1.5 brings support for new devices, including the Motorola V710 (Verizon’s first Bluetooth phone). The bad news is that Verizon will be crippling the V710 to promote sales in their own ring-tone service. That means that syncing will take place over a USB cable only. While this is better than nothing, it means I’ll either be waiting to see if a Nokia Bluetooth phone will grace Verizon’s lineup with fully functional Bluetooth or get a cheaper Motorola with USB syncing (like the V60s). It’s disappointing to say the least.

Other than continuing to play with CSS some, I have nothing new to report today.

I think I may write up a guide to using CyTV later, which is by far, one of the most useful pieces of software out there today (if you have an EyeTV).
