Rosetta is Not All That and a Bag of Chips
Macworld’s lab tests of the new intel iMac confirm what I’ve been telling people since the Intel transition was announced.
I can summarize the results pretty quickly. Considering that the Intel processor in the new iMac is a dual core, the speed isn’t really that much better. In fact, taking that into account, it’s slower. Also, Rosetta isn’t the panacea that everyone bought into. I knew it wouldn’t be. It doesn’t work with anything that requires precise timing and it’s slow. Slow.
This shouldn’t be surprising, but considering what all the pundits said, you’d think it would be. I don’t think that the Intel transition will break Apple, but let’s not pretend it’s all candy and roses. It ain’t.
I just have one very important question that the majority of gamers want to know…
Will these new MacIntel’s run World of Warcraft????
Since blizzard (the manufactorer) makes their software for both PC/MAC’s should I expect a new x86 version coming out or will the Mac version install and run?
IF the answer is yes, it will run great, I’m buying a new MacBook Pro PowerBook =)
I want to say I read something suggesting that it was, but you can probably google just as good as I could.
Thanks to Blizzard, it seems that they are developing and getting ready to release a Universal patch for WoW by the end of this month!
And MacNN reports 40-100FPS during Macworld SF.
So now the only question that remains to be answered is, WHICH MacIntel should I get?
