My New Favorite Firefox Extension

I’m big into Firefox right now, but I’m still a fan of Safari (if only they’d speed it up). I still miss (among other things) the reload/stop button. Apple was so clever as to realize that they were mutually exclusive (you can’t choose both at the same time at any time). That reduced them to a single button.

My prayers were answered with the Stop-or-Reload Button extension. Do it up.

My Theme Will Be Bundled with NetNewsWire

I can’t quite explain how excited I am, but Brent Simmons likes my NetNewsWire theme and will be including it with NetNewsWire. I’m quite thrilled and didn’t expect it to be worthy of that honor. At any rate, I’ll be referring to it as Autumn from now on.

Trackback Ethics

Trackback Ethics But this isn’t about squabbling between bloggers. I’m more interested in the question, “What is trackback for?” or “What is ethical Trackback?” I’m not sure. From what I’ve read, Trackback is just a ping to tell someone that you’ve written / blogged / quoted something similar or on the same topic (Wikipedia). I was continuing Scoble’s discussion of blog promotion. I tracked back discussions of it. Was that wrong?

Elliott Back asks some interesting questions about trackbacks. I think the concept and its appropriateness is all too often not explained well. I’m new to the blogging game so I won’t pretend to know everything. I will say that this problem is likely to get much worse as blogging packages are becoming increasingly accessible to laymen. It might be time for blogging package makers to take a little responsibility to explain these concepts better to new users.

The Onion | Cheney Vows To Attack U.S. If Kerry Elected
GREENSBORO, NC%u2014In an announcement that has alarmed voters across the nation, Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that he will personally attack the U.S. if Sen. John Kerry wins the next election.

Ha ha. I needed this.

mozparty2: It’s 1.0 time… again!

mozparty2: It’s 1.0 time… again! Remember the Mozilla 1.0 Release? Mozilla supporters were partying all over the world! But now, it’s 1.0 time again - for Firefox and Thunderbird! Join the parties and help making the next browser statistics way different :-)

Needless to say, I find the impending Firefox 1.0 release very exciting. What’s even more exciting is the number of people I’ve turned on to it and can no longer stand Internet Explorer. Take that, subspace.

There’s only a single party planned in the US currently (in Indiana), but I’m sure more will be planned soon enough. I’d think about hosting one, but one, I’m no good at planning parties and two, that’s too geeky.
