As a sleeve, its primary function is to keep the laptop from moving around too much in my briefcase. It served that purpose very well. It is not, however like the Brenthaven sleeve that is used in their briefcase and backpacks. The Brenthaven sleeve has some type of rigid backing, in addition to the padding. Consequently, it takes up more room in a briefcase than the Waterfield, but it offers greater protection.</p> <p>I use the Brenthaven Mobility backpack for my ibook and I just bought the Brenthaven Powerbook bag for work. Ibook fits fine in the sleeve (a little extra room on the end) and plenty of room for extra hardware.
